Southern Proper Hospitality Brings Authentic Mexican Street Cuisine to Marietta; Plans Call for March Opening

ATLANTA (March 6, 2019) – Southern Proper Hospitality, the group behind many of Atlanta’s most popular restaurants, promises authentic and adventurous Mexican street food with the opening of its latest concept, Street Taco. The taqueria plans to open this month at 68 North Marietta Parkway NW in the Marietta Square Market development.

“Street Taco offers a dining experience unlike anything else you’ll find in Marietta Square Market,” says Southern Proper COO Alex Curley. “Our creative, contemporary take on Mexican street cuisine emphasizes fresh ingredients and creative cocktails served in a vibrant, exciting atmosphere, that brings the energy, sights and sounds of the Mexican streets to Marietta.”

The menu centers on a selection of street tacos like al pastor, chicken tinga, tofu asada, blackened shrimp and pork pozole verde ($3-$4). Other highlights include a series of antojitos (snacks) such as chicken flautas, guacamole and queso ($2-$8); street tortas of beef brisket and chicken Milanesa ($10); sides including Mexican street corn, charred street broccoli, dirty rice and street-style refried beans ($4-$6); daily specials ranging from garbage can nachos to tamales; and a kids menu with cheese quesadilla, beef taco and a big kid chicken burrito ($3-$4). A full-service bar boasts margaritas ($8-$10), frozen drinks ($9-$10), traditional Mexican cocktails ($8-$10), wine ($8-$9) and beer ($4-$6).

The edgy, modern setting, showcasing an original mural from celebrated Mexican street artist Neuzz, is capped off with a hip soundtrack of energetic Mexican funk and rock sounds. The restaurant also features counter service and provides both indoor and outdoor seating for approximately 150 guests. Guests on the patio can get a glimpse of Marietta’s rich railroad history as they watch the nearby trains go by.

Southern Proper Hospitality is currently looking for motivated, energetic individuals to join the Street Taco team. Front of the house and back of the house positions are currently available. Those interested in applying should stop by for an interview from 11 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday at the restaurant.

Marietta Square Market, an 18,500-square-foot food hall similar to Ponce City Market and Krog Street Market, is located in a converted warehouse adjacent to the historic Marietta Square at 68 North Marietta Parkway. The development has the look and feel of an old railroad station, helping it to fit right in with the historic feel of Marietta Square.
