Latin-Inspired Restaurant Introduces Small Sharing Plates and Cocktail Flights to Kick Off 2019

ATLANTA (Jan. 18, 2019) – To start the New Year, Babalu® is making a resolution to deliver on the promise of tapas. While tapas have always been part of the restaurant’s identity, Babalu® is taking extra steps to put these affordable, shareable dishes front and center in 2019 by introducing a new menu to give guests the option to graze, eat or feast in a more fun and social setting.

“It’s important to have food and drink as conduits to share and socialize,” says Babalu® CEO Abe Ruiz. “We’re really excited about this rollout because we understand and can execute upon the tapas culture, where social cocktails drive the meal, and it’s a lot of fun. This is an opportunity to exceed our promise to our guests.”

With the new menu rolling out in stages throughout January at all Babalu® locations, guests can expect 14 small, affordable dishes that are ideal for tasting, exploring and sharing, as well as value pricing on both tacos and lunch sandwiches. The new tapas selection ranges in price from $3-$7 and features international and exotic dishes such as black bean fritters, patatas bravas, lamb skewers, crab croquettes, marinated olives and grilled artichoke hearts. Babalu® guests can choose to snack on these tapas, or move onto a composed entrée from the “Atlanta Favorites” section of the menu for a larger meal.

“We want our guests to experience value every single day, every single time they visit,” says Ruiz. “Now diners have the option of spending $3 or $33 and can try several different things, rather than just having one dish.”

To complement the introduction of these new tapas, Babalu® is also offering tapas-style drinks so guests can sample four 2-ounce tastes of differently flavored cocktails. Babalu® currently offers mojito and sangria tastings and will continue to add more beverage tasting options.

Founded in 2010 in Jackson, Mississippi, Babalu® is a fun, one-of-a-kind, sharing-style dining experience. The restaurant has quickly taken the Southeast by storm and was named to Restaurant Business's Future 50 list for 2018. The Latin-inspired dishes -- each with a unique Southern flair -- are sure to bring people together. Babalu® is proud to use hyper-local produce and products for its made-from-scratch dishes and handcrafted cocktails.
