Events and Specials to Start 2019 with Full Stomachs and Fun Times


ATLANTA (Dec. 7, 2018) – The biggest night of the year is just around the corner, and it’s time to make resolutions and reservations! Atlanta’s best restaurants and nightspots are breaking out the Champagne, special menus and dance floor for memorable ways to ring in 2019 (and ways to recover gracefully on New Year’s Day).


The following restaurants are open for both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day:


5Church Atlanta is celebrating New Year’s Eve with twice the fun. The Midtown hotspot will be serving lunch from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. as well as presenting Fire & Ice, a two-story New Year’s Eve party featuring two separate environments on two different floors with two different DJs. Guests can begin the evening with a prix fixe dinner with Champagne or go directly to the party, which includes open bars, festive party favors, a live countdown of the ball drop and a Champagne toast at midnight. Dinner seatings are 5 to 5:45 p.m. ($80), 6 to 6:45 p.m. ($85) and 7 to 7:45 p.m. ($95). Upgrades may be added for an additional cost so guests can enjoy the post-dinner dancing, open bar and/or buffet during the Fire & Ice party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Purchase tickets online. Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar in Virginia-Highland is throwing a 90’s themed bash on New Year’s Eve with a costume contest, prizes and a DJ playing all of the decade’s hits starting at 10 a.m. There will be an à la carte dinner menu and countdown party with Champagne toast at midnight on Dec. 31. On Jan. 1, enjoy the full brunch menu along with Atkins Park’s traditional Southern New Year’s Day offering of braised pork, hoppin’ John, collard greens and cornbread. 404-876-7249;


In Buckhead, ring in 2019 with homestyle North Indian brunch from Bhojanic on New Year’s Day from noon - 4 p.m. 404-841-8472;

Weary travelers passing through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport during the holidays can count on favorites on the concourse, such as Cat Cora's Kitchen, P.F. Chang’s and Varasano’s.


Irby’s Tavern, Buckhead’s hometown sports bar, will be open from 6 - 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and will be open New Year’s Day, serving brunch from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with regular dinner hours to follow. Georgia fans can watch the Sugar Bowl on it’s 21-plus TVs starting at 8:45 p.m.

All three locations (Brookhaven, Midtown and Perimeter) of HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern are hosting New Year’s Eve parties. HOBNOB’s original Midtown location (404-968-2288) is offering its regular menu with a lobster roll special until the official festivities start at 9 p.m. The New Year’s Eve party includes live music from James Patrick Morgan and all-you-can-eat pizza, bottomless beer and Champagne from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. along with a balloon drop and party favors, all for $49 per person (includes tip, excludes tax). The Brookhaven (404-464-8971) and Perimeter (470-395-7904)  restaurants are hosting New Year’s Eve parties featuring their regular menus with a lobster roll special, a DJ and dance floor, Champagne and bourbon flights, party favors and a balloon drop. Tickets are not required, but reservations are strongly recommended. All three locations are open for brunch on New Year’s Day starting at 10:30 a.m.


Beloved Virginia-Highland restaurant Murphy’s is serving its regular lunch and dinner menus on New Year’s Eve from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. On New Year’s Day, brunch is available from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with dinner service from 5 to 10 p.m. 404-872-0904;


Ray’s Restaurants - Ray’s on the River (770-955-1187), Ray's at Killer Creek (770-649-0064) and Ray's in the City (404-524-9224) - are each offering a three-course, prix fixe dinner menu for $85 per person on New Year’s Eve. After dinner, ring in the New Year at Ray’s on the River and Ray’s at Killer Creek with live music from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., dancing from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and a Champagne toast at midnight. Ray’s in the City’s bar will be open until 1 a.m. All three restaurants are open regular hours for lunch and dinner on Jan. 1.


With over 100 beers on draft, the Southeast’s Original Buffalo wings and multiple HD TVs for enjoying sporting events, Taco Mac is a prime destination for a pre-game warm up on Dec. 31 and watching all the football action on New Year’s Day. All locations are open both days with regular hours except for Stockbridge, which is open noon to close on New Year’s Day.


For those looking to celebrate the arrival of 2019 with simple joys and oodles of noodles, Tin Drum Asian Kitchen locations are open regular hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Check locations for specific hours.

The Alden is hosting its final Last Monday Supper series for 2018 on Dec. 31. This Tradition Meets Innovation dinner on New Year’s Eve features holiday fare such as oysters and caviar, Hudson Valley foie gras, Maine lobster bisque, peekytoe crab soufflé and beef Wellington. Ring in the New Year in an eclectic, Latin atmosphere at B A B A L U ®. The Midtown hot spot has partnered with Bacardi and Grey Goose to host an Exclusive NYE 2019 party featuring heavy tapas, cocktails, Latin beats from DJ Danny and DJ Fernando, a Champagne toast at midnight and party favors to keep the celebrations going. Enjoy an intimate and sophisticated New Year’s Eve celebration at The Blind Pig Parlour Bar with an all-inclusive ticket that includes open bar, party favors, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a Champagne toast at midnight at the 1920s-inspired speakeasy. Chido & Padre's brings the fun, festive atmosphere to Buckhead all year long, but the Baja Mexican restaurant is getting the party started early on New Year’s Eve with happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m., the restaurant’s regular menu alongside chef specials, a DJ, party favors and a Champagne toast at midnight. 404-848-9100;


Celebrate on Dec. 31 at Drift Fish House & Oyster Bar and Seed Kitchen & Bar with three-course prix fixe dinners for $79, plus tax and gratuity. Menu selections include Maine lobster with parsnip roasted mushroom risotto and truffle foam and San Marzano braised veal osso buco at Seed or Alaskan King crab salad, red wine braised lamb shank and filet mignon at Drift. The Georgian Terrace Hotel’s community drinkery Edgar’s Proof & Provision is hosting a “Widespread New Year’s Eve” to complement Widespread Panic’s concert at The Fox Theatre. The evening begins at 8 p.m. and features festive music and decorations, passed hors d’oeuvres and a toast with Miller High Life ponies. The Federal is serving a special prix fixe menu on New Year’s Eve. Selections on the four-course menu include a sardinian flatbread with blood orange compote and goat cheese, 12-ounce Jackman Ranch wagyu steak and chocolate cheesecake with Mexican cinnamon. The prix fixe price is $150 per person, plus $45 for optional wine pairings. Normally closed on Monday, Gunshow is open from 5 to 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, offering its regular service (with chefs rotating selections tableside) in addition to special items such as lobster, crab and caviar. 404-380-1886;


Gypsy Kitchen is serving a special five-course prix fixe menu beginning at 5 p.m. The meal begins with a croquette battle where guests can choose their favorite between roasted chicken with lime yogurt and blue crab with saffron aioli. Other dinner selections include charcuterie and cheese, grilled octopus, cocoa-dusted scallops, roasted root vegetable “paella,” butter poached monkfish, New York strip loin, South African lobster tail and churro bites. Himitsu is teaming up with Dom Perignon for a masquerade party on New Year’s Eve starting at 10:30 p.m. There will be music orchestrated by multi-Grammy award winning producer Dallas Austin. Livingston Restaurant & Bar at the Georgian Terrace Hotel is serving a special prix fixe menu plus a complimentary glass of Pol Remy Brut in place of its regular menu for $65 per person from 5 to 11 p.m. Festive selections include braised pork belly bahn mi wraps, rib-eye, grilled vegetable mille feuille and rhubarb crumble. Kevin Gillespie’s Revival is featuring a four-course tasting menu for $75 per person that includes dishes such as grilled oysters, braised beef short rib, wood grilled steelhead trout and caramel apple pie. Wine pairings are available for an additional $25. 470-225-6770;

The Southern Gentleman is offering a four-course prix fixe menu featuring such dishes as smoked trout ho-cakes, baby kale salad, smoked wagyu short rib, crackling pork shank, quinoa and farro risotto and sweet potato-bourbon pecan pie. Offering its Monday half-priced wine special, Storico Fresco Alimentari e Ristorante is open for dinner from 5:30 to 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and is serving its regular menu.
