Thanks to Chido + Padre's new weekend brunch, Atlantans can say “hasta la vista, baby” to weekday stress as they soak in a coastal Baja Peninsula weekend getaway right in the heart of Buckhead. Southern Proper Hospitality’s newest restaurant is extending the vibrancy of a Mexican party beyond weekday lunch and dinner to Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Executive chef Jonathan Mercado creates a diverse menu celebrating Mexico’s fresh, coastal cuisine and offering something for everyone, from huevos rancheros dressed with incredibly light avocado crema to the sweet/savory/spicy contrasts of tres leches French toast with jalapeño-infused agave nectar. The Desayuno Tardío portion of the menu boasts pineapple tamales made with turbinado sugar, Mexican chocolate and dulce de leche ($10); chilaquiles verdes with salsa verde, soft scrambled eggs and queso fresco ($11); huevos divorciados of fried eggs, salsa verde, tostados and salsa sucio ($10); and a breakfast burrito stuffed with chorizo, scrambled eggs, rajas, guacamole and queso blanco ($13). All items are served with crispy potatoes and tomato escabeche. Especiales De Almuerzo, served with arroz verde y frijoles negros, include smoked chicken flautas with avocado crema, salsa sucio and pickled red onion ($9) and smoked beef brisket enchiladas with rajas, enchilada sauce and queso fresco ($10). Cocktails continue the Baja beach attitude, and the bevvies at Chido + Padre's are handcrafted with freshly squeezed juices, including specialties of Chido Mosa with cava, Aperol, orange juice and pineapple juice, and the Bloody Frida of Frida Kahlo Tequila Reposado, Ancho Reyes, Zing Zang, Valentina and lime juice. Beer, wine and $34 carafes of sangria extend brunch-enhancing options. Join the fun without parking worries -- there’s free self-parking on site. Don’t bother to pack your carry-on for a Chido + Padre’s weekend brunch getaway, just be ready to go, again and again.
