At Milton’s Acre, the one-acre garden at Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails, seeds and plants are doing what they do best. They’re growing. Close to 100 varieties of heirloom fruits and veggies are climbing and leafing upward and outward toward dining tables at the historic Crabapple restaurant. Some of those tables will be set amid the garden rows and cellist music for this season’s seed-to-fork Garden Dinner Series that harvests its first event May 6 followed by dinners on Sept. 16, Oct. 14 and Oct. 28. Executive chef Derek Dollar relays, “one of my favorite things to do during our garden dinners is to watch our guests’ faces. I truly believe they can taste our inspiration in every bite…and see our inspiration, too, when they tour Milton’s Acre.” Dollar designs four-course menus for the family style dinners that may include delicate squash blossoms stuffed with prosciutto and cream cheese or pimento cheese and crawfish; or roast duckling with fingerling sweet potatoes, oyster mushrooms, heirloom snap beans and candied pecan apple butter. Purchase Garden Dinner tickets online for $125 per person, per dinner (includes wine pairings, tax and gratuity). Tickets are nonrefundable within 48 hours of the event and cannot be transferred to other events. When Dollar suggests dining “out,” he means it. See you in the garden, fork in hand.
